    Ever wondered how woodturning works and wanted to see it firsthand? Now’s your opportunity!

    Join master woodturner Elmer Miller—an acclaimed artisan whose work has been featured in art shows nationwide—for a hands-on introduction to this classic craft.

    With a PhD and a passion for lifelong learning, Elmer creates a professional and welcoming environment in his fully equipped wood shop in Murdock, Nebraska. His Demonstration Event offers a practical look at the process—showing how raw wood is transformed on a lathe into something beautiful and unique.

    Who It’s For:

    Designed for newcomers who want to explore the art of woodturning through guided, live-instruction in an intimate workshop setting.

    Course Format:

    • Total of 3 hours starting at 100 PM and ending 400 PM
    • Iinstruction and ample Q&A
    • Taught in a fully equipped, professional wood shop
    • Topics to include:
      • Mounting the wood piece
      • Running the lathe
      • Applying the tools
      • Q&A session to follow

    On premise at As The Windmill Turns wood shop in Murdock, Nebraska

    Class Size:

    Maximum of 4 students per session

    Cost:

    $139 per student (includes demonstration, use of applicable safety equipment and refreshments)

    Payment & Policies:

    • Payment accepted via Stripe, PayPal, or personal check
    • Full refund available for cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the event
    • 50% refund for cancellations made within 7 days of the event
    • All participants must sign a waiver (found here)
