The wood was sourced in Wisconsin. Because of the perfect shape of the piece, I chose to core the three bowls from a single piece of wood. This unique set is 9" in diameter and 4" tall.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
My name is Elmer H. Miller and I have worked with wood turning since 1975. Since then, I have expanded my skills and wood turning practice to a full wood studio focused mainly on turning wood burls into pieces of art.
I'm pleased to say that my work has been shown at over two dozen art shows around the United States and I'm blessed to share my interests with customers and woodturners alike.

WHAT IS A BURL?
A burl is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. It is commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. In my mind's eye, a burl is the beginning of a piece of natural art. That's my ambition at As The Windmill Turns.
